Googlebot

Googlebot is the search robot, more precisely crawler or spider, used by Google to gather new information from websites and update its index.

Googlebot is the “in charge” of the crawling phase: it visits websites, reads pages and follows links between pages to discover new content and submit it for inclusion in the index.

Understanding how Googlebot works can help SEO professionals optimize their websites to be easily discovered and indexed by Google, thus improving their visibility in search results.
